eine Interventionsreihe im öffentlichen Raum der Stadt Basel

Mit performativen Interventionen werden Momente der Irritation und Absurdität geschaffen, die den öffentlichen Raum, mit seiner vermeintlichen Selbstverständlichkeit, temporär in ein Kunstfeld verwandeln.

„Situierungen“ hinterfragt den alltäglichen Umgang mit und im öffentlichen Raum und erschliesst neue Denk- und Reflexionsräume, die sich assoziativ auch zu anderen Disziplinen wie Sport, Akrobatik, Theater, Tanz und Strassenkunst hin öffnen.

Neue Ausstellungsräume für Kunst!

“Kreis4ator”

Jeder ist ein Kurator

Die Menschen kommen nicht zur Kunst, sondern die Kunst kommt zu den Menschen.

Die Idee ist, das man selber Ladenlokale im Kreis 4 anfrägt ob sie eins/mehrere Kunstwerke ausstellen und so die Läden als Ausstellungsorte nutzt und im Austausch dafür, Produkte/Objekte/Dienstleistungen von diesen Läden mitnimmt und damit eine Ausstellung in den Räumen von Starkart aufbaut. Der Aufbau der Objekte aus den Läden findet am Tag der Vernissage statt, am 4 September. Zu Beginn der Vernissage um 17 Uhr sind die Räume komplett leer, dann wird die Ausstellung nach und nach langsam aufgebaut. Die Besucher der Vernissage können dann live miterleben wie die Ausstellung entsteht. Der Verein neuer shed im Eisenwerk Frauenfeld lädt junge Kunstschaffende oder DiplomabgängerInnen der bildenden Kunst für die Monate Mai und Juni 2011 zu einem Atelieraufenthalt mit anschliessender Ausstellung in die Shedhalle Frauenfeld ein.

Wir bieten 8’000.- SFr. für die Finanzierung der Arbeiten und für deren Transport, zudem Kost und Logis während vier Wochen und professionelle Rahmenbedingungen was Organisation und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit betrifft.

Wesentlicher Bestandteil des Projektes ist darüber hinaus, dass die KünstlerInnen Fachpersonen ihrer Wahl für Arbeitsbesprechungen sowie für das Kuratieren der Ausstellung beiziehen können. Auch hierfür übernimmt der neue shed die Kosten.

MEDIA DESIGN MA PROGRAMME

CALL FOR APPLICATION - SEPTEMBER SESSION

Addressed primarily to students/designers mainly active in the field of digital media, the programme is based on the fact that digital technology acts as a universal intercode, allowing to unify and to create crossovers between the different fields of media design. It covers the whole range of visualization, modelling and communication processes involved new media.

The teaching highlights the importance of code and programming, it encourages the convergence of the media design fields to which the students’ projects belong : interaction design, dynamic data visualization, digital fashion design, locative and mobile media, electronic publishing and publications, live digital performance. Deadline for abstract submissions: 1st September 2010

The European Academy of Design, the University of Porto and ID+, Institute for Research in Design, Media and Culture, invite you to the 9th EAD International Design Conference: The Endless End.

The conference offers a forum for design academics, researchers, practitioners, thinkers and industry representatives to meet, exchange ideas and share new knowledge and insights across the fields of design. The conference includes keynote lectures, papers, posters and an exhibition of practice-based design research. The language of the conference is English. All documentation and related media will be in English.

There is a sense of vertigo permeating contemporary culture as a whole, and design in particular. So much so, that we often find ourselves wondering if design as we have known it still matters. Design seems to have lost its universe of focus, branching exponentially into a multitude of concerns and activities formerly situated well beyond its scope. Likewise, design seems to be the new interest of so many professionals situated outside its area of expertise; not long ago it seemed like design was being courted, and maybe even actively cultivating, a territorial ambiguity that has kept its professionals worried, to say the least. Design now speaks of street culture and cutting-edge technology, museums and iPhone apps, just as it has spoken of campaign posters, haute couture, heavy industries, exercises in kitsch and typography. August 13 is the final submission date for exploratory papers, industry cases, the industry pitchfest, panels, posters, doctoral consortium and applications to be a student workshops and tutorials.

Submission details are available from the conference website www.pdc2010.org. Submissions should follow the PDC Submission template but only exploratory papers need to be anonymous

Exploratory papers: (short paper – maximum 4 pages) Exploratory papers should present ideas that could benefit from discussion with members of the Participatory Design community. These papers may include work-in-progress, experiences of reflective practitioners, and first drafts of novel concepts and approaches. Each submitted paper will be double blind reviewed by at least 3 reviewers. NODEM 2010  From Place to Presence. Digital media breaking boundaries between inside, outside and virtual spaces in cultural heritage institutions

One of the most striking features of digital media in museums today is their potential for linking and integrating resources, spaces and users in multiple and proactive ways. The topics of this year’s NODEM conference  Inside, Outside and Virtual explore how content can be shared and gain exposure across online and onsite services and exhibitions. Special focus is on how users can contribute to knowledge production on different exhibition platforms.

The theme From Place to Presence devotes special attention towards how digital media can be supporting tools for experiences, reflection and knowledge inside AND outside the museum  as well as to discussing the concept of museums as knowledge arenas. (more…)
