‘Designproduktion: Skizzen, Produktion, Marketing’.

Valentin Spiess (Geschäftsführer iart interactive), Hanns-Peter Cohn (CEO Vitra, Basel) und Markus Freitag (Gestalter, Freitag lab. AG, Zürich) werden über die Ideenfindung in Entwurfsprozessen und deren Wirkungskraft, über die Bedeutung der Autorenschaft und über Unterschiede zwischen den Disziplinen Industrie-, Mode- und Grafikdesign diskutieren. Christian Brändle moderiert.

CALL: WIRED MADNESS

Wired madness has broken out! Regardless of the mode of expression, this new era of performative art is upon us. This has been revealed recently in many cases: the use of an embedded persistence of vision display to flag a taxi, or the nerdy need to extend alternate-reality games into the real world, or even ironically be more close to the military’s command and control digital networks to be employed on unsuspecting audiences by trained insurgent-performers using computational and conceptual couture as a ‘secondary skin’ in the act of creating the newest New Media art experiences for them.

The Digital Art Weeks 2007 invites Performing Artists to submit proposals in connection with wearable technology and the arts. We are seeking works that empower the performer in an explosion of the boundaries of the body and link the audience into the virtual of technologically animated space. Any form of immersion should trigger critical observation in the mind of the audience in order to counter act the most logical form of evolution in the 21st century enabled by technology: Intelligence without morals. A series of performances during three evenings will be organized in partnership with the Cabaret Voltaire of Zurich.

Bern, 16.01.2007 – An der Auftaktveranstaltung zur Lancierung des 7. Rahmenprogramms für Forschung und technologische Entwicklung der EU in der Schweiz haben heute im Paul Klee Museum in Bern rund 250 Persönlichkeiten aus der Politik, Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft und der Verwaltung teilgenommen. Eröffnet wurde die Veranstaltung von Bundesrat Pascal Couchepin.

Die Rahmenprogramme für Forschung und technologische Entwicklung (FRP) sind das Hauptinstrument der Europäischen Union zur Umsetzung ihrer gemeinschaftlichen Wissenschafts- und
Technologiepolitik. Ziel ist die Stärkung des Forschungsstandortes Europa durch die grenzüberschreitende Vernetzung der Forschungskapazitäten. Wie bereits am 6. FRP kann sich die Schweiz auch am 7. FRP integral beteiligen. Grundlage dieser Zusammenarbeit sind die Bilateralen Verträge I. Diese regeln die Beteiligung am 6. FRP (2003-2006) und sehen die Weiterführung der wissenschaftlichen und technologischen Zusammenarbeit zwischen der Schweiz und der EU auch im 7. FRP (2007-2013). Das auszuhandelnde Folgeabkommen befindet sich auf gutem Wege, einer Beteiligung der Schweiz an den demnächst beginnenden ersten Projektausschreibungen des 7. FRP steht nichts entgegen. (more…)

The International Association of Societies of Design Research (IASDR) will have a conference 11-15 November, 2007 at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This is a large, international design research conference with an intensive and high quality programme. Keynote speakers will be invited from other disciplines–the social sciences, computing, and business, for example. Multiple paths through the papers will be suggested to help participants find synergies among people and papers. Ample time will be available for informal meeting and discussion. Zu wissen, wann es angebracht ist, Gefühle zu zeigen – und wann nicht -, ist grundlegend für unsere alltägliche Orientierung. Wir wissen allerdings auch, dass je nach Kultur und Situation gegenüber dem Zeigen von Gefühlen ganz unterschiedliche Haltungen eingenommen werden. Damit ergeben sich nicht nur Probleme praktischer Art, es stellt sich zugleich auch die Frage, was wir überhaupt unter Gefühlen verstehen und als solche bezeichnen. Wer sagt, was Gefühle sind und wie sie – gegebenenfalls – gezeigt werden sollen? Welches Wissen über Gefühle wird hierfür geltend gemacht, worauf kann sich dieses stützen und wie ist das Verhältnis von Gefühlen zu Emotionen? Spätestens damit sind auch die Wissenschaften gefordert: Gibt es ein wissenschaftliches Verständnis von Gefühlen? Welche neuen Erkenntnisse wurden durch die Emotionsforschung der jüngsten Zeit gewonnen? Wie manifestieren sich emotionale Prozesse? Was leisten wissenschaftliche und was andere – nicht zuletzt künstlerische – Manifestationsformen?

The Digital Art Weeks is concerned with the application of digital technology in the arts. It consists of a symposium, workshops, and performances. The program offers insight into current
research and innovations in art and technology. Artists and researchers will examine the use of electronic media in articulating the performer’s presence through the possibilities of the multi-sensuality of electronic media. The possibility of blurring the divide between public and performer to bond them through the powers of dissemination and inclusion inherent within the technology used will also be considered. The aim of this two-day International Conference to be held in Berne on 12th-13th June 2007 is twofold. Firstly, it will provide the researchers active in the fields of socio-economic Sciences and the Humanities (SSH) with a unique opportunity to discuss research topics and to meet with coordinators of European research projects. By doing so, the researchers active in Switzerland will be able to position themselves within the European research networks, and get a smoother access to European research projects.
