Am 8. und 9. April 2011 findet die Jahrestagung der SGKM (Schweizerische Gesellschaft für Kommunikations- und Medienwissenschaften) im Schaulager Basel zum Thema “Bild – Kommunikation – Medien” statt.

Die interdisziplinär ausgerichtete, Jahrestagung 2011 widmet sich dem unzweifelhaft feststellbaren Wandel der Massen- und Individualkommunikation hin zu einer zunehmenden Visualisierung privater und öffentlicher Kommunikation. Sie fragt nach den Faktoren, die zu diesem Wandel geführt haben, ebenso wie nach den Strukturen und Dynamiken, die diesen Transformationsprozess gegenwärtig weitertragen. Und sie fragt nicht zuletzt auch, zu welchen Konsequenzen für Individuum und Gesellschaft diese zunehmende Be- und Ver-Bilderung unserer (Kommunikations-) Welt führt.

The Journal for Artistic Research (JAR) is a new international, online, Open Access and peer-reviewed journal for the identification, publication and dissemination of artistic research and its methodologies.

With the aim of displaying and documenting practice in a manner that respects the artist’s modes of presentation, JAR abandons the traditional journal article format and offers its contributors a dynamic online canvas where text can be woven together with image, audio and video material. The result is a journal which provides a unique ‘reading’ experience while fulfilling the expectations of scholarly dissemination.

The inaugural issue of JAR is released on 17 February 2011.

-        Artiste ou designer reconnu sur la scène nationale et/ou internationale et développant un travail original et une recherche exigeante dans le domaine du multimédia.

-        Capacité à intervenir aussi bien dans le champ artistique que dans le champ du design

-        Compétences techniques avérées

-        Capacité à générer et encadrer du projet.

Les missions

-        Encadrer et développer, en lien avec l’équipe en place, la recherche au sein du post-diplôme Art, design et recherche ;

-        Contribuer au développement de l’initiation à la recherche en année 4 et 5 au sein des filières Art et Design (suivi de mémoire) ;

-        Etablir et mettre en œuvre un nouveau projet éditorial pour la revue Azimuts (2 numéros par an), en ouvrant celle-ci aux enjeux artistiques et aux activités de recherche de la Cité du design.

We invite you to present your research at the 2010 Design Research Society (DRS) International Conference to be held July 7th to 9th 2010, in Montreal (Quebec), Canada.

THEME

To be held under the theme, Design & Complexity, the Conference will be a springboard for sharing ideas and concepts about issues in design research. The theme is intended as a focus for stimulating discussion and exchange among researchers exploring design problems of a complex nature as well as novel approaches for dealing with them. Contributions are sought on a wide range of topics, whether relating directly to the theme or to other

contemporary issues of interest to the design research community

This is a general design research conference, and it is expected that a wide variety of work in progress or with final results will be reported. Irrespective of range and stage of research, the organisers expect the highest standards of scholarship in setting the work in context, explicating the methods of inquiry, and reporting results which may be of help to other researchers or practitioners. Designing for Children

The international conference ‘Designing for Children’ with focus on ‘Play + Learn’ is scheduled to be held at Mumbai, India in Feb 2010 and is being hosted by the Industrial Design Centre (IDC), at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Mumbai.

This international event is aimed at deliberations and discussions concerning design issues related to children. The event is expected to throw light on the role of designing for children as related to design of objects, media and environment with focus on ‘play and learn’.

The events are centered around the interests of students, educationists, practicing designers and children related interest groups. The event has been designed to be lively, interactive and thought provoking and will provide great opportunity to interact with thought leaders, listen to visions by researchers and for networking.
